Last night at church I spoke on the meaning and value of
shalom. Shalom is a Hebrew word most often translated into English as “peace.”
But shalom is far more than the absence of conflict with which we associate
peace. The Hebrew understanding of Shalom is far richer. For the ancient Jews
shalom meant wholeness, harmony with God and others.
